Safety matting is ideal for use on grassed areas. The rubber matting is laid on top of the grass surface providing protection from erosion from foot traffic, and a cushioned safety surface around play equipment.

After around five weeks the grass establishes growth through the rubber membrane, giving the appearance of grass and covering the view of the safety matting.

The matting is laid directly onto well-drained grass with a mesh underlay without the need for any expensive base works. In a short time, the grass grows through the mesh.

When the area is fully established, it provides a firm bond to the ground and excellent grass reinforcement properties. Two Thicknesses of matting are available, tested to BS EN 1177 up to 1.5m and 3.0m respectively onto well kept grass.

The open cellular construction of the matting allows grass to grow up through it, which can then be cut with a conventional mower. The matting itself does not require any specific maintenance.
